Just returned from a little road trip with two pair of SDA's. One pair 2.3TL's and a pair of 2.3's. These were posted here:

2 pair polk audio 2.3 speakers - $500 (manhattan ks)

http://ksu.craigslist.org/ele/4132931199.html

by 4xoddic, after a little debate within myself, I called the owner and asked about the 2.3's condition and the usual questions. I decided to pull the trigger and I'm certainly glad I did.

The TL models are in VERY good condition, they are better than Dan's description, nothing that a little work and some elbow grease won't take care of. Of course the x-overs will have to be replaced with new components and much of the usual restoration will be taken care of also.

The original 2.3's are going to require a little more work and effort to bring them back, but the foundation looks pretty solid. Both pairs appear to have all the original mid-drivers and the PR's look very good, everything is there, including the original i/c's, with only one exception; one grill is minus a name plate.

Restoring both pair will be a Winter project (which is not far behind, 25 degrees when I left this morning).

Thanks to 4xoddic for posting the add, and a BIG thanks to Dan if you are looking! It's been a good day, two pair of SDA's in the shop and our Chiefs are 8-0

Really glad you went and got them. I was debating it, but was just a logistical nightmare how to get them to TN. I'd still be interested in either pair in the future or the other SDA's if you let some of the collection go.

I had a near mint pair a few years ago that I made the mistake of selling, went to a member here, I'm sure they are still in the family. As usual, always regretted it later on. When you live in the middle of no-where, as we do, the 2.3TL's don't come up for sale very often...at all.

Feel very fortunate to have acquired these. This TL pair will not be going anywhere.

I think your a very tough grader. They look great.I would call those on cosmetics alone 8/10 for age and maybe a missing logo nice , no very nice score. From what I've learned here that's a great price for both pair w/ the cables. Want to talk football, Giants won a very ugly one and the Jets are getting squashed by the Bengals.Series later after 8pm ,what a season for sports nuts.

Way to go Mike! You will be in SDA heaven. I would guess the break-in on the new wires had to wait. Great score!

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

That's a potential signature line hereabouts.

I was on the edge of my seat when Dan didn't answer the phone Sat & the CL ad came up empty Sun afternoon. A relief to know the 2 pairs were rescued!

Dan mentioned the TL's needed some x-over work. (He must have meant "the x-overs need to be upgraded". I hooked them up in the shop this morning, and they're firing on all cylinders!

I was on the verge of risking pi$$ing off my wife and going and getting them...glad you took care of the temptation for me Mike.

Side note, if you decide to part with the 3.1TLs, let me know...been selling myself on a pair of those for a while now. Hehe.

I have to tell ya, the 3.1's are near and dear to Mike, probably wont be letting them go anytime soon....but, you'll be the first to know if I do.

Also, my wife bought the 2.3's for me as an early X-mas gift  I'm a lucky fella.
