Hello Polk Forum,
I've been buying Polk home audio products for a few years now for their quality and price; however, this is my first car install. These speakers have a plastic ring which you can see in the pictures of the product page. There is no documentation on the purpose of them and they are held in place with plastic tape. Any clue on what they are for? Since it was bound by 2 small pieces of tape I removed them and continued installation. Now that I think about it since it lays on top of the robber that surrounds the cone does it prevent the rubber from ripping at loud volumes? I would just like to know if I'm OK with the install without the plastic ring.
