Up for sale is the infamous Infinity Kappa 9A. This is a later version with the optional switch for normal or extended mode. I am the second owner of this item and the previous owner purchased the item in 1994 new. It has been well taken care of and the drivers are in pristine condition. It is very rare to see Kappas with these drivers in this condition. I have not seen a pair of Kappas with drivers in this condition.

The woofers were recently refoamed by the original owner and are in good condition. There are no wrinkles in the SEMIT or the EMIT. The polydome is fresh and crisp with clarity unseen in other drivers. The wood is been well cared for and oiled regularly to exhibit a very nice shine. The crossovers were also recently recapped using ERSE capacitors. Caps were replaced with the same value, electrolytics were replaced with electrolytics and so on. Larger electrolytics for the woofer section were kept as they still exhibited values within tolerance.

These speakers are well known and if you can provide the space and amplification for them they'll sing.

I can send more pictures for interested parties.

Local pick up only at 92841, these monsters are too heavy to ship.

For anyone interested make sure you have amplification thats up to snuff. If I recall right these things are known to make amps light on fire lol...

This in no way is intended to say these are bad speakers. They are some SUPER BAD MAMA JAMMA's which is why you need a good amp....

I have always wanted to hear a set myself......

Definitely... The later 9A version has crossover mods that make the load easier. I discovered that when the board didn't match up to the schematics. There is also a handy switch to lighten the load at the cost of 5hz of extension.

I feel that if these didn't have a reputation for being ampkillers, they would cost much more and be much more desirable. But if you could provide proper amplification and a decently sized room, they'll reward you.

I've honestly haven't seen any of the Kappas in this good of a condition for being nearly 20 years old. I hope I've set a fair enough price for these. They are truly great speakers if you could accommodate their needs.

I auditioned them back in the day. I ended up buying some SRS 2.3's. They sounded nice with tremendous low end but just a little too bright for my taste.

Very nice speakers. I've owned RS series Infinity's and liked them. Some history, the coolest non-speaker thing Infinity did (that never made it to the public) was build a turntable with air bearing platter and linear tracking air bearing tonearm. Bruce Thigpen designed it and went on to found Eminent Technology. Employees bought up the turntable prototypes.
