This is a very nice vintage Yamaha CR 1040 AM/FM stereo receiver. This unit was made 1978-1980 and was secound from the top in Yamaha's receiver line. It weighs around 40lbs and puts out 80 watts per channel . It has seperate input and record out selectors, can handle 2 sets of speakers and has a very nice phono stage. Also has their OTS tuning system and pwoer meters. The receiver needs nothing and works perfectly including the lamps. Very rare. . There are a few slight scratches on the cabinet. The face plate is very nice and all controls are solid. The tuning dial has a few small blotches on it. Not even sure what it is but they are small. The power cord has been repaired as I use a detachable cord for my gear. All in all way above average and very nice and the sound is pure Yamaha from this classic era. Asking $269 Thanks,Keith

A fantastic receiver with excellent sound quality and a build quality that makes them apparently last forever.
GLWTS.
Here's a tip on taking sharp photos... Many cameras are unable to focus on objects that are too close to the lens. A way to achieve sharp close up photos of an object with a camera that lacks a macro function is to step back from the subject and use the camera's zoom feature. An additional benefit of stepping back from the object and using the zoom is that the flash (if used) will be softer and not overwhelm the subject and cause overexposure/washout. -
The successor to the CR-1020 and probably the very end of the classic silver face period for Yamaha? A very nice unit. If I didn't already have a nice Yamaha in the collection and a recent Sansui AU-517, I'd be all over this. But I don't have "unlimited" funds. Need to put out for some Monitor 7Bs in the coming week!
But this is a fine example of "late" vintage Yamaha. Don't let those 80 watts fool you. That's a LOT of Yammie power there! And crystal clear sound!
GLWTS!

Hey Now,
I have a CR-1020 and love it. Rock solid gear. Very transparent sound with digital sources going through my KEF 103.2s. GLWS.

Welcome to Club Polk!
You'd be better off going over to audiokarma.org and asking one of the Yamaha guys about where to find a repair guy in your state. The master of Yamaha repairs (merrylander) is now retired but he used to live in Maryland if I'm not mistaken--so he might know!
Good luck!
